yes, the oven is back in business and we’re been baking up a storm. it was never really out of commission we just were too afraid to leave the gas on long enough. kostya(our apartment owner) came over a few days ago and showed us what we were doing wrong. we were so excited we ran out and bought flour that night. this is our version of pizza, which came out pretty damn good. i made the dough, while erik carmelized the onions and mushrooms and them we just topped if off with fresh tomato slices. pretty simple. it ended up tasting more like fancy fococcia bread than pizza so we had a side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar on hand to dip the crusts. mmm mmm. we’ve also been making scalloped potatoes and squash, and pot pie baked in a pot, no less. we don’t have any casserole dishes but we’ve found that the pots we’ve got work just fine in the oven, plus they’ve got nice little handles.
